Watershed Study Resources The following are resources to assist with field studies. We would like to continue to develop this page as a resource. If you have materials that would be of assistance to other educators, please let us know and we will add them. (Please note that the materials below are in Microsoft Word and Excel formats. Water Quality Monitoring - Field Study Aids: Bear Creek Water Quality Standards & Concerns Hach Phosphate Test Instructions Hach Dissolved Oxygen Test Instructions Watershed Study Web Sites: US Geological Survey - Water Resources Education Site contain links to many useful water resource education sites. Water Sciences for Schools Excellent source of information for use in the classroom. US Environmental Protection Agency's Environmental Education Center A good source of curriculum and ideas for student projects. Also links to EPA's other web sites. Green: Global Rivers Environmental Education Network Provide resources for monitoring your watershed. Additionally, Green has created a database where your watershed data can be uploaded. Oregon Department of Environmental Quality: An excellent source of information for water quality issues. The Oregon Plan for Salmon Restoration - Outreach and Education Education Materials Includes the "Hooks and Ladders" game and Jay Nicholas's book "Down to the Sea: The Story of a Little Salmon and His Neighborhood". Adopt-a-Watershed's Environmental Education Links This a very complete list of environmental education web sites, nicely organized by topic. Hach Company's H2O University: This site provides classroom and field monitoring information for educators and students. Good safety information for those using Hack kits. Pleasen note that BCWEP primarily uses Hach Water Quality Test kits. |
